The continent known as the “Dark Continent” is Africa. This term originated in the 19th century, given by European explorers and writers to describe the vast, mysterious, and largely unexplored interior of the continent. The term is now considered outdated and offensive due to its colonial connotations and dismissal of Africa’s rich cultures and histories.
