Explanation

The first chairman of SAARC was H.M Ershad. The first SAARC summit was held in 1983 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. At that time, Hussain Muhammad Ershad was the President of Bangladesh and hosted the event by bringing together countries like India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh.
