Explanation

Lake Baikal, located in Siberia, Russia, holds the title of the deepest lake in the world. It reaches a maximum depth of 1,642 meters (5,387 feet) and contains about 20% of the world’s unfrozen freshwater. Lake Baikal is also one of the oldest lakes, estimated to be around 25 million years old, and is home to diverse plant and animal species found nowhere else on Earth.
