Pakistan’s Sufi maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Oxford at a ceremony called ‘Encaenia’ on June 26 2019. The Sufi singer is among eight people who was awarded honorary degrees at the ceremony. The university described Khan as a “Pakistani singer, primarily of Qawwali, a devotional music of the Muslim Sufis.”. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was presented with the degree of Doctor of Music at a ceremony this summer.
