Explanation

The Jaffar Express, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, was attacked and hijacked by Baloch insurgents on March 11, 2025. The incident resulted in numerous casualties and a hostage crisis that lasted over 30 hours before security forces intervened. Pakistan’s military says it has rescued 346 passengers, but 28 people are dead, apart from 33 attackers. Pakistan’s security forces announced on Wednesday night that they had ended a military operation against a group of separatists who had hijacked a train on Tuesday, rescuing 346 passengers. Jaffar Express, the train was travelling from Quetta, the provincial capital of the southwestern province of Balochistan, to Peshawar, the capital of the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, when it was attacked.
