Explanation

Pakistan joined the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) in 1954 for regional defense cooperation. The SEATO became effective on 19 February 1955 and was signed by Pakistan, Australia, France, Great Britain, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand and the United States. Pakistan was one of the signatories to the SEATO, along with Australia, France, Great Britain, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, and the United States. Pakistan was included in the alliance even though it was not part of Southeast Asia. The SEATO was formed to protect member countries from Communist aggression and conspiracy. The SEATO was dissolved on June 30, 1977.
